Join our teaching team

Teaching Chinese as a Foreign Language is challenging but also a very rewarding experience. We value our teaching staff and treat them as our family members. We invest in our teaching staff becuase they matter to us. We offer all our teaching staff regular trainings as well as team building activities because they matter to us. Our teachers and teaching assistants play a key role in ensuring that every student has an enjoyable experience in learning the Chinese language and culture. We work hard to ensure that our teaching staff has a rewarding and enjoyable experience at our school.

大家好 ，我是普通话班 Rachel 老师 ，我在伦敦克尼中文学校任教已经一年半了。我教过低龄班的学生也教过成人班的学生 , 每一位学生都非常认真和积极地对待中文学习 。 低龄班的孩子们天真可爱 ，在讲故事 ，做游戏 ，唱歌跳舞等等活动中他们能够更加快速地学习到中文词语和句子 。而成人班的学生们更加希望可以学习到实用的对话 ，句型 ，以及中国的传统文化和了解更多现代社会文化 。根据不同学生的需求以及学习偏好 ，在校长的支持下 ，我尝试了各种不同的教学方法 ，并且都取得了很好的教学成果 。为了让学生们更加深入了解中国文字的博大精深 ，我从中国给学生们带来了毛笔和字帖 ，学生们都非常好奇和喜欢 。每当在他们练习中国传统毛笔字的时候 ，都非常专心和安静 ，他们的书法都得到了提高 。在中国春节的时候 ，大家还尝试了写中国对联 ，并且像中国传统一样拿回家里张贴起来 。在伦敦克尼中文学校的这一年半每一次课都是非常美好的回忆 ，大家就像一个大家庭一样一起庆祝各种节日 ，友爱互助 ，共同成长进步 。非常高兴可以与大家分享在伦敦克尼中文学校教学的感想与心得 ，希望在我们大家的一起努力之下 ，中文在海外的传播会越来越广泛 。

Mandarin Teacher Ms. Rachel Gan shares her experience of teaching at London Hackney Chinese Community School, July 2018 

Hello everyone, my name is Rachel and I am teach Mandarin class at London Hackney Chinese Community School. I have been teaching at the school for one and a half years now. I have taught both young children and adults. I find that every single student at the school is very serious and positive about learning Chinese. The children from the foundation class are lovely, they learn Chinese words and sentences quickly through storytelling, games, singing and dancing. Adult students are very eager to learn and practise conversations, sentence patterns and they are very interested in traditional Chinese culture and contemporary socail culture in China. Based on the differing needs and learning styles of my students, with the support of the Headteacher Dr. Bonnie Kwok, I was encouraged to try various teaching methods and they have all helped me achieve good teaching results. In order to give students a deeper understanding of the profoundness of Chinese characters, I brought brush and copybooks from China and gave them to my students to practise Chinese calligraphy. My students showed a lot of interest in using ink and brush to write Chinese characters. Whenever they practise Chinese calligraphy, they are very focused and their calligraphy skills have been improved significantly under my interactive teaching methods. During the Chinese New Year, I taught my students to write some Chinese couplets and asked them to displayed them home for good luck, following the Chinese tradition. Every single class at London Hackney Chinese School gives me wonderful memories. The teaching team makes me feel welcome and I very much enjoy celebrating various Chinese festivals with my students and my fellow teaching staff. We support each other and it feels very much like a big family. I value the friendship, mutual support and encouragement from everyone at the school and this has allowed me to learn from each other and I am grateful for the opportunities for personal growth. I am delighted to be able to share my experience of teaching at London Hackney Chinese Community School with you and I hope you can join the teaching team to promote the Chinese language and culture to our local communities.
